three seasons of watching Emily Thorne (Emily
VanCamp) unleash the R-word in ABC's
sudsy Revenge, it looks as though the tables are
about to turn. There will still be plenty of
revenging, of course, but according to the Season
4 trailer, Emily won't be the one doing it.
Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) narrates the
new promo, recounting the death of her husband,
her accidental admittance into a mental hospital,
and the many other miserable things that have
happened to her since Revenge first debuted. If
you haven't ever seen the show, you might even
think Victoria is the victim!
"When everything you love has been stolen from
you, someone has to pay," she says. "Emily
Thorne, I'm coming for you!"
Given the way this show has maxed itself out and
outlasted its initial premise, I'd say a change of
direction is a great thing. And since David Clarke
is—surprise!—not dead and back in the
Hamptons, there's a lot of new (and probably
batshit crazy) territory to explore.
Revenge returns for Season 4 on Sunday,
September 28 at 10pm on ABC.
