James Gandolfini is definitely smiling from above.
The late actor's son Michael Gandolfini was on hand
earlier tonight at the Toronto Film Festival premiere
of his last movie The Drop.
Not only is 14-year-old Michael the spitting image
of his father, but he also walked the TIFF carpet
with class and grace.
"I'm just really proud of him," Michael said of his
dad, who died of a heart attack in June 2013 while
the two were vacationing in Italy. "He loved acting.
He loved being an actor. I know how hard he
worked and I love how hard he worked.
"So I love seeing him, but at the same time it's
hard," he said.
And it seems like the apple isn't falling too far from
the tree. Michael said he dreams of becoming an
actor or a director someday.
The Drop co-stars Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace.
"I was very grateful to have the privilege of working
with him," Hardy told me. "He was so talented."
Director Michaël R. Roskam admitted he was going
into the screening at the Princess of Wales Theatre
with a heavy heart.
"It's sinking in," he said. "I'm feeling it. We're all
feeling it. We were talking all yesterday about him,
all night about the memories."
The Drop is in theaters on Sept. 12.
