But this year, Kim Kardashian made sure it was all about her famous cleavage on the red carpet.
Joined by sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the mum-of-one left very little to the imagination in her tiny patterned frock.
Showing off her assets to the max (something she's become very fond of doing), it really was a miracle that Kim didn't suffer the dreaded nipple slip.

Continuing to flaunt her post-baby weight loss, Kanye West's wife also flashed her toned legs with a statement pair of black heels.
Forced to take a step back from the limelight thanks to Kim's flesh flashing ways, younger sisters Kylie and Kendall were also big fashion hitters at the prestigious awards show.
Keen to make the night out a 'family affair', Kim posted on Twitter: "Getting ready for the VMA's tonight!!! Bringing @KendallJenner and @KylieJenner as my dates! #FamilyAffair."
Both dressed in black, Harry Style's ex made the most of her lean figure in a sheer black jumpsuit.
Kendall - also dressed in black - opted for something a little sexier as she worked the famous leg bomb in a sophisticated yet trendy dress.
