What to watch on Monday, September 8...
7pm, ESPN
Monday Night Football
The New York Giants visit the Detroit Lions in a
matchup between the two teams that led the NFL
in turnovers last season en route to 7-9 records.
So, y'know, enjoy that one, football fans. That's
followed at approximately 10:15pm Eastern by the
San Diego Chargers at the Arizona Cardinals,
whose .295 all-time win percentage on MNF is the
worst in the league (a record brightened only by
wide receiver Rod Tidwell's spectacular game
against the Cowboys in 1996).
8pm, NBC
Running Wild With Bear Grylls
And speaking of football, can NFL Hall of Famer
Deion Sanders successfully apply his gridiron
skills to the rugged canyons of Utah? Can Bear
Grylls successfully apply his survivalist skills to
covering the slot receiver in a nickel defense
package? One or more of these questions may be
answered tonight.
SEASON 1 FINALE, 8pm, ABC
Bachelor in Paradise
Chris Harrison informs the couples that, unless
they can envision carrying on their relationships
in post-paradise life, they must immediately
vacate the island. Never has so much depended
on the shake of a Magic 8-Ball. Later, the last
remaining couples attend one final rose
ceremony.
8pm, Fox
MasterChef
The top five chefs must create dishes inspired by
their loved ones, so get ready to see a pile of
mashed potatoes take the shape of somebody's
Great Aunt Mildred. In the second hour of
tonight's two-part installment, the top four
contestants will tackle the final team challenge.
9pm, Disney XD
Gravity Falls
In "Sock Opera," Mabel hopes to catch the
attention of a local puppeteer by staging a musical
sock puppet extravaganza. But Dipper
inadvertently sends her show off the rails with his
latest dive into the journal's supernatural
mysteries, because Dipper.
DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE, 9pm, HBO
A Good Job: Stories of the FDNY
Former firefighter Steve Buscemi interviews the
men and women of the New York City Fire
Department, exploring the grueling toll of the job
as well as chronicling the department's history
from the 1960s through today.
9pm, TNT
Dallas
A power struggle ensues in the wake of Ewing
Global's public offering, and Bobby enlists an old
flame's help to reclaim the company's reins.
Elsewhere in "Victims of Love," Pamela grapples
with the truth about Cliff, while Judith and
Ryland look to patch things up with the cartel.
10pm, PBS
POV
"The Genius of Marian" chronicles a family's
experiences with Alzheimer's disease, as the
condition affects 61-year-old Pam White and
curtails her plan to write a biography of her
mother, artist Marian Williams Steele, who had
also developed the disease before passing away in
2001. Pam's son Banker directs this film, which
seeks to preserve the stories of both women.
10pm, CBS
Under the Dome
As plummeting temperatures threaten to turn the
Dome into the Snow Globe, Sam and Rebecca take
action to keep the townsfolk alive in "Black Ice."
Of course, since their plan involves finding a
Tauntaun for every citizen to slice open and crawl
inside for warmth, I'm thinking they may not get
very far.
SEASON 4 FINALE, 10pm, MTV
Teen Wolf
"Smoke and Mirrors" sends Scott and Stiles back
to La Iglesia in an effort to save the pack from
Kate. Their plan is so elaborate, in fact, that the
episode will need an extra 15 minutes of running
time for them to pull it all off.
