What to watch on Monday, September 22...
MARATHON, 10am, TBS
Friends
TBS takes a break from its usual Big Bang Theory
marathons to roll out 20 episodes of the seminal
NBC sitcom, celebrating the 20th anniversary of
its debut. Episodes were chosen by fans via online
voting.
SEASON 8 PREMIERE, 8pm & 8:30pm, CBS
The Big Bang Theory
CBS's most profitable sitcom vacations to Monday
for a few weeks while the NFL sublets its usual
Thursday-night digs (it returns to its regular time
slot on October 30). "The Locomotion
Interruption" gets the season underway with
Leonard and Amy embarking on a sudden jaunt
to fetch Sheldon in Arizona, and with Penny
interviewing for a job at Bernadette's company.
Then in "The Junior Professor Solution," Howard
enrolls in the class that Sheldon is ordered to
teach, while Amy takes advantage of tension
between Penny and Bernadette.
SERIES PREMIERE, 8pm, Fox
Gotham
In what I believe is a prequel to the popular 1960s
TV series Batman, this cop drama charts the early
career of future Gotham City Police Commissioner
James Gordon ( Ben McKenzie), as he biffs,
pows, and ker-splats his way through organized
crime, a corrupt police department, and an
assortment of supervillains-in-training.
SEASON 7 PREMIERE, 8pm, NBC
The Voice
Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen
Stefani, and Pharrell Williams get their first
taste of this season's wannabe warblers as blind
auditions begin.
8pm, Bravo
Inside the Actors Studio
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska
Hargitay sits down with James Lipton to discuss
her career, as well as her experiences growing up
with famous parents Jayne Mansfield and Mickey
Hargitay.
8:30pm, Disney XD
Gravity Falls
"Soos and the Real Girl" finds the Mystery Shack's
lovable oaf using a dating simulator game to
brush up on his courtship style. Will he be able to
find a nice, normal date for his cousin's
engagement party, or will he wind up wooing
some sort of supernatural beastie? The second
one, right? Probably the second one.
SEASON 2 PREMIERE, 9pm, Fox
Sleepy Hollow
"This Is War" declares the Season 2 premiere,
though the good guys are at something of a
disadvantage for the moment. Ichabod's in a
coffin, Abbie's in Purgatory, Capt. Irving's in jail,
Katrina's in the Horseman's clutches, and Jenny's
in the wreckage of a car crash. But on the bright
side… um… y'know what, let's come back to this,
I'm sure I'll think of a bright side.
SERIES PREMIERE, 9pm, CBS
Scorpion
A gaggle of brainy misfits solve high-tech crimes
for the Department of Homeland Security in this
action drama co-starring Katharine
McPhee and Robert Patrick. In the opener, the
team must untangle a crisis at LAX that's
endangering dozens of airborne planes.
SEASON 3 FINALE, 9pm, TNT
Dallas
Christopher searches for Elena, John Ross makes
a daring rescue attempt, and Bobby is betrayed by
a cartel as "Endgame" and "Brave New World"
wrap the season.
SEASON 2 PREMIERE, 10pm, NBC
The Blacklist
Red squares off with enemies old and new,
including Berlin ( Peter Stormare) and the
titular "Lord Baltimore," who I assume is the
reductio ad supervillainum of people who are
super into The Wire. Fellow guest-stars Mary
Louise Parker and Krysten Ritter may or may
not be countering as the Vidame and Marchioness
of Deadwood.
SERIES PREMIERE, 10pm, ABC
Forever
Ioan Gruffudd stars as Dr. Henry Morgan,
dashing New York City medical examiner and
200-hundred-year-old immortal, in this mystery
procedural. In the opener, a subway catastrophe
tests the investigative prowess of Henry and his
partner, Det. Jo Martinez. ( Alana De La Garza).
SEASON 2 FINALE, 10pm, CBS
Under the Dome
"Go Now" presents a possible escape from the
Dome at a moment of high danger, and—oh!
That's it! The bright side for the Sleepy Hollow
gang I mentioned? They don't have to watch the
season finale of Under the Dome!
