American journalist, James Foley. Sotloff,
in the video, was threatened to be
murdered next.
Sunni jihadist group 'Islamic State', ISIS has
beheaded the captured American journalist
Steven Sotloff, the SITE Intelligence Group
reports.
The militant Islamic State group is said to have
released a three-minute video showing ISIS
murdering 31-year-old Sotloff and also
threatening the life of David Haines, a British
citizen.
This video comes weeks after the militant Islamic

Josh Earnest, the White House press secretary
who was in the middle of a daily briefing with
journalists when the news broke, says 'the Obama
administration would work to confirm the
authenticity of the video'.
'Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr Sotloff
and Mr Sotloff's family', he is quoted as saying.
Sotloff was a freelancer for outlets such as Time
magazine and Foreign Policy. He was kidnapped
in 2013 while reporting on the bloody civil war in
Syria.
He is described by Friends as a 'selfless', 'loyal'
and 'caring' person
