What to watch on Thursday, August 7...
7pm, Cartoon Network
Adventure Time
The apparently ironically named Peace Master
goes after the Candy Kingdom's leading citizens in
"Nemesis." Then in "The Suitor," another
interloper sets his sights on Princess Bubblegum
in an entirely different way.
8pm, Syfy
Defiance
With New York threatened by a terrorist attack in
"Slouching Towards Bethlehem," Nolan must
channel his inner Jack Bauer and interrogate a
possible spy for the Votanis Collective.
SEASON 1 FINALE, 9pm, Syfy
Dominion
The 90-minute "Beware Those Closest to You"
closes the season with a key revelation that sets
Alex and Michael against each other. Elsewhere,
Claire and William tie the knot, General Riesen
kisses Vega goodbye, and Gabriel apparently
waves the white flag.
9pm, USA
Rush
Rush joins his stepmother for a lunch that leads
down an unexpected path in "We Are Family." Is
there a chance said path doesn't go through Illicit
Hookup City? Probably not a huge one, no.
9pm, ABC
Rookie Blue
The team probes a suspicious home invasion in
"Exit Strategy." In dicier developments, Tracy
accidentally bungles a raid and Chris is bedeviled
by his addiction.
9pm, Fox
Gang Related
As the Metas get to the bottom of Salazar's
demise, Ryan encourages Javier to cut a deal with
the D.A. in "Almadena." Elsewhere, Jessica spills
the beans about Ryan to Ellis, and Daniel finds
his star on the rise with Los Angelicos.
9pm & 10pm, Discovery
Mythbusters
"Laws of Attraction" examines clichés about
courtship, possibly with the highly scientific help
of the OKCupid laboratory team. Then in "Traffic
Tricks," the gang tries to solve car-related
congestion conundrums by testing the efficiency
of roundabouts, lane-changing, and more.
9pm, NBC
Welcome to Sweden
Language barriers prevent Bruce from gelling
with Emma's circle of friends in "Fitting In /
Vänner," leading Emma to wonder if he's making
a real effort to adapt to Swedish life. In less
tongue-tied transpirings, Bruce deals with a
bombshell from his parents and an odd
development in his friendship with Hassan.
9pm, Sundance
Rectify
Daniel bites the bullet and asks for assistance in
"The Great Destroyer," because after four hours it
was pretty clear he was not getting that hunny pot
off his head by himself. Meanwhile, the Talbot
house is riven by surprising news.
9:30pm, NBC
Working the Engels
Jimmy enjoys a romp with an eccentric neighbor
in "Meet Irene Horowitz," while Jenna tries to
woo a high-class client ( Scott Thompson) who
was introduced to the Engels by the family's own
lawyer ( Eugene Levy).
SERIES PREMIERE, 10pm, IFC
Garfunkel & Oates
Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci star in this
series about the comedic music duo's various
misadventures. "The Fadeaway" kicks things off
with Kate auditioning for an uncharacteristic
movie role alongside Sir Ben Kingsley, while
Riki hopes to rebound from a drab relationship by
dating a fellow comedian.
10pm, Sundance
The Honorable Woman
"The Unfaithful Husband" finds an MI6 agent
digging into Nessa's past and learning more about
her kidnapping in Gaza eight years prior. More
embarrassingly, he also finds a Class of '95
Yearbook where she quoted a Toad the Wet
Sprocket lyric under her picture.
10pm, FX
Married
Faced with an overdue orthodontist bill in
"Uncool," Russ and Lina have no choice but to
become sticks-in-the-mud. Sadly, turning uncool
is a fact of growing up we must all deal with. Well,
except for those of us who were never cool in the
first place.
10pm, USA
Satisfaction
Neil polishes his public perception in "...Through
Self-Discovery," while Grace pulls the trigger on a
rash decision thanks to mounting pressure at
work.
10:30pm, FX
You're the Worst
In "What Normal People Do," Gretchen demands
that Jimmy come over to her place, which turns
out to be just a hair less well-kept than, say, the
Waldorf Astoria.
MINISERIES PREMIERE, 11pm, Showtime
7 Deadly Sins
Morgan Spurlock puts his documentary-style
spin on tales that illustrate the sinister septet
(presumably without stuffing Gwyneth Paltrow's
head in a box). Each episode will focus on a
different sin, with "Gluttony" up first.
SERIES PREMIERE, 11pm, Cartoon Network
Black Jesus
This live-action comedy from The Boondocks
creator Aaron McGruder follows Nazareth's
most famous carpenter as he goes about his life
and mission in present-day Compton, California.
The opener, "Smokin', Drinkin', and Chillin',"
finds Jesus tagging along with his pals on a drug
buy.
