Championship winner has passed away after an apparent heart attack
SKATEBOARDING legend Jay Adams has died aged 53.
The sports legend - who won many skating and surfing championships in his lifetime - has passed away after an apparent heart attack.
Sources close to Jay told TMZ he died late on Thursday in Mexico where he'd been enjoying a long surfing holiday with his wife and a close friend.
The site reports the pro-skater had no history of heart problems.
Having been in and out of jail for felony drug charges, Allen Sarlo - who joined Jay on the trip - told the LA Times he'd "really turned his life around".
"I saw him catch this big wave and ride it all the way through. He told me this was the best surf trip of his life," he added.
