15 People Reportedly Killed In Kano College Bomb Blast

The Federal College of Education in Kano
state was attacked today by gunmen who
also set off a bomb within the campus

At least 15 people are believed to have lost their
lives in an explosion which occurred at the
Federal College of Education in Kano state
today, September 17, 2014.
Premium Times reports that the victims include
13 students and two armed attackers while 47
people were left injured.
The state Police Commissioner, Adenrele
Shinaba reportedly said :
"What happened was that we detected some
suspicious movements of some people and we
trailed them only for them to open fire around
the school resulting to them gaining entry into the
premises and started throwing bombs,"
Witnesses said that the attackers invaded the
college after killing the security officer at the gate.
They then proceeded to throw improvised
explosives at students and reportedly shot those
who tried to escape.
Reports also have it that security has been beefed
up in Kano with armed soldiers patrolling key
areas in the state.
