Nicki Minaj opens up about near-death experience

Rapper says fame can be deadly for celebs

NICKI Minaj has opened up about her scary near-death experience.

The Pills N Potions rapper says fame can come with deadly consequences because stars are so worried about their personal dilemmas being made public.

The 31-year-old first alluded to her brush with death while accepting an accolade at the BET Awards in June.

She said onstage: "The other day, I really thought I was about to die ... and I didn't call the ambulance, because I thought, 'Well, if I call the ambulance, it's going to be on TMZ.' And it made me realise - I don't care what anybody gotta say. I'ma do me. I'ma do me."

But Nicki played coy about her shocking comments in a new interview with The FADER magazine when asked about the incident.

Instead, she offered: "I was making a point to say that the business kills so many people and we don't even realise it. I can only imagine how many people in this business have died because they may not have wanted to… to be embarrassed publicly. We care so much about what the world thinks that we don't live, really."
